Beyond health care services, the Foundation has been developing, since 1986, research and applied research.

A pioneer approach based on preventive medicine, and on community and family nursing…

…with the support from JNICT, FCT, IAMANEH (International Association for Maternal and Neonatal Health), APSSP (Associação para a Promoção da Saúde Pública), Project VIDA, CNLS (Comissão Nacional de Luta Contra a Sida), Direção-Geral da Saúde and Community Programs.

Pursuing also in this way the Primary Objective of Public Health promotion, the research has privileged Epidemiological Studies (in particular in the HIV and Alcoholism fields), and also the promotion of research, such the studies primarily oriented to the prevention of drug's consumption and sexually transmitted diseases.

Reflecting on and about the action, the studies carried out (many of them published) reflect the pioneering approach based on preventive medicine and family nursing.

This in-depth look at reality, shared and discussed with other professionals and institutions, has been a guiding source of health education activities promoted by the Foundation and the continuing training of its professionals.
