The Foundation's ‘Early Intervention in Childhood’ social response is co-financed by the Lisbon District Centre of the Social Security Institute, I.P., through a Cooperation Agreement, and is part of the Local Intervention Team (ELI) of the National Early Intervention in Childhood System (SNIPI).
It is aimed at children between the ages of 0 and 6 with alterations in the functions or structures of the body that limit individual and social development and participation in age-appropriate activities, or with a serious risk of developmental delay.
It provides integrated support, centred on the family and the child, through preventive and rehabilitative actions, namely in the fields of education, health and social action, and intervenes in the children's natural development contexts (home, crèches, kindergartens, others).
The actions to be developed in this social response have the following objectives:
- Ensuring that children's rights are protected and their capacities developed through Early Childhood Intervention;
- Promoting the detection and signalling of children at risk of alterations or changes in body functions and structures or at serious risk of developmental delay;
- Adapt the above to the needs of each child's family context, with a view to preventing or reducing the risk of developmental delays;
- Supporting families in accessing services and resources from the social security, health and education systems;
- Involving the community in the Intervention process.
Its geographical scope corresponds to the area of competence of ELI Lisboa Norte, covering the parishes of Alvalade, Avenidas Novas, Benfica, Campolide, Carnide, Lumiar, S. Domingos de Benfica and Santa Clara.
